Hi, I have some comments from your podcast, first is the linux media centers. Opposed to what you said I think linux has been a media center for a long time almost a founding member.
Linux if you remember was the OS on Tivo which was the premier media center and content replay appliance.
We also have some ventures that were launched in the past such as http://www.mp3beamer.com which is a linspire product and a cousin Lindows Media Center *http://www.internetnews.com/ent-news/article.php/1575991* which was afaik just too slow to compete but none the less a product that could have matured.
You have right now some media centers like Sonos, read a review at MadPenguin and also some other major consumer mp3 players that might have support for ogg, wma, and other formats might be running mplayer on a embedded linux solution.
